A case has been registered in connection with the recovery of the hanging body of a young woman named Mosarat Jahan (Munia) from a flat in Gulshan of the capital.
The elder sister of the deceased filed the case with the Gulshan police station on Monday night.
Gulshan Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sudip Kumar Chakraborty confirmed the matter at around 3 pm.
He said that at night, Munia’s elder sister Nusrat Jahan became the plaintiff and filed a case with the Gulshan police station alleging incitement to suicide under section 306, case no 27.
Munia was a second-year student at a college in the capital. His home is in Comilla town. His family lives there.
Earlier on Monday evening, his body was recovered from a flat on Gulshan 2 Road 120.
Asked about the case, Nusrat Jahan said, “I have filed a case with Gulshan police station myself.”
Mosarat had a son acquaintance with Jahan. They also got information that he used to travel in that flat.
Referring to Mosarat’s elder sister, Gulshan Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nazmul Hasan Firoz said Mosarat Jahan called his elder sister on Sunday and said he was in trouble. Hearing this, his elder sister came to Dhaka from Comilla on Monday.
He went to the flat in the evening. He knocked on the door but the door did not open. He opened the lock from outside and entered the room and saw his sister hanging with a fan. He later informed the landlord. Then the police were informed.
