Four Argentine footballers allegedly raped a female journalist in a hotel room. Argentina’s police arrested four footballers on rape charges. However, a footballer denied the allegations.
The four footballers play for Vélez Sarsfield, a Primera División football club in Argentina. The four were detained by the police for preliminary questioning on Monday (March 18).
The four accused footballers are – Uruguayan goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa (37), Paraguayan midfielder José Florentín (27), and Argentines Brian Cufre (27, defender) and Abiel Osorio (21, striker).
They have been detained for 48 hours, police said. Then they will be taken to court. The judge will decide whether to arrest them. Police have started investigation into the whole incidentthe plaintiff, a 24-year-old sports reporter, alleges she was invited by Sosa to a hotel room in Tucuman in the north of Argentina, where Velez had drawn 0-0 with Atletico Tucuman on March 2, where the other three men were also waiting.
Argentine club Velez has banned all four footballers. However, goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa denied the allegations on social media, Instagram.
