The vaccine, called Pikovac, was developed by Beijing-based Sinovac Biotech. It follows the traditional antivirus process. When applied to the animal’s body, antibodies are produced that help destroy the virus.
On March 6, it was reported that Chinese researchers had recently applied a new vaccine to the bodies of rhesus monkeys. Three weeks later, the monkeys were exposed to the coronavirus.
After a week, the monkeys given the higher dose of the vaccine had no coronavirus in their lungs, meaning the vaccine protects against the virus. Unvaccinated monkeys contracted the coronavirus and developed symptoms of pneumonia. Last year, human trials with Pikovac also began in mid-April.
Meanwhile, Picovac is not the only hope in the fight against Corona. Following the same process, the Chinese military developed another nearly identical vaccine. It has entered the second phase of human trials.
However, Chinese researchers may have problems developing a vaccine. The country has reduced the number of coronavirus infections to a few hundred patients. As a result, it will be difficult for them to find volunteers for the experimental use of the vaccine in humans within a few days. For this reason, the SARS virus vaccine was discontinued in 2003.
You still shouldn’t lose hope. We can win the corona war very quickly. More recently, the Oxford University-developed Khanna vaccine is being developed in Bangladesh. Implementation could be completed in June. I hope that the situation in Bangladesh will return to normal soon. As before, all educational institutions, offices and courts will function. The standard of living will gradually normalize. Forget about Corona; we are going slowly.
