Young man hacked to death in Munshiganj, injured 1
Munshiganj Sadar Upazila A young man named Mizan Hossain (25) was hacked to death. He was killed around 2 a.m. Monday while guarding potatoes. At that time another youth named Abdur Rahman was beaten and injured. The incident took place in the Soma Dhalikandi area of the Adhara union.
The deceased was identified as Nizam, son of local Ali Akbar. The family claims that the killings were carried out by rivals in the local Mijhikandi area, centering on an earlier dispute.
According to police and local sources, Nizam and Abdur Rahman were guarding potatoes in the Soma Dhalikandi area at night. At around 2pm, four or five people, including Shuvo Mizi from the Mijhikandi area, attacked.
The assailants hacked Mizan and injured Abdur Rahman. Abdur Rahman escaped but Mizan died on the spot. After receiving the news, the police recovered the body of the deceased from the spot.
Mizan's cousin Rehana Begum said that recently Shuvo Mizi's argument with Mizan about taking care of the potato plant. The attack took place at the center of that dispute. There were five attackers in the incident.
Farid Uddin, sub-inspector of Munshiganj Sadar police station, said the attack took place at around 2 am due to previous hostilities. The body of the deceased was recovered after receiving the news. Autopsy preparations are underway. The injured youth has been sent to Munshiganj General Hospital. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in the incident.
MA Kalam, an emergency department doctor at Munshiganj General Hospital, said Abdur Rahman's head was pounding. .It is thought to have been hit by something heavy.
