Removing six malware apps disguised as anti-virus apps from the Google Play Store has hurt customers. According to Cyber Security researchers at Checkpoint, the apps have infected 15,000 users' devices with Android malware. In addition to various certificates, there is also bank information.

Checkpoint reports that the malware did so by applying a geofencing feature and a trick. Which sets it apart from other malware. These apps use something called Domain Generation Algorithm (DGA). Which is a rare use in the world of Android malware.

During the analysis, it identified about one thousand unique IP addresses of infected devices. The victims are residents of Italy and the United Kingdom.

It does not target every potential victim, causing damage to the device it encounters. Hackers have used geofencing features to identify users in China, India, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

In total, the apps have been downloaded more than 15,000 times from the Google Play Store. Tech bloggers fear that this could hurt many in the future.

Recently Atom Clean-Booster, Super Cleaner Alpha, Cleaner, Powerful Cleaner, and Antivirus Center Security apps have been removed from Google Play Store. So if you download this app, delete it quickly.
