The Guhas who live in Ballygunge are radically different from the Ganguly who live in their old home on Nilmoni Mitra Lane as a united family. The Guhas is the “artsy” Bengali family and almost everyone in the family can sing Rabindra sangeet or dance kathak, and watch theatrical performances at the Tolly club over wine and cheese. The Ganguly, meanwhile, is an old "Bonedi" family from north Calcutta who is still proud of their collection of antique furniture and their connection to the royal family of Cooch Behar. They form a "common family" of distinguished lawyers, doctors, and engineers and have an air of feigned intellectual superiority over them. The two families are as different as it gets, but they end up in the same place and biyebari because two of their younger members want to translate their intense college romance into marriage.
The narrative will follow the entire marriage process, from Paka Dekha and Aiburo bhaat at the reception to how these families finally come to terms amid growing tension, hilarious issues, irreverent secrets, accidental romantic reunions, and young (and sometimes old) loves.
