Uber, a world-renowned app-based taxi service, has been fined 59 million dollars for failing to provide information on sexual harassment victims to authorities.


The fine must be paid within 30 days or Uber will be shut down in California, USA.

According to the report, more than twelve hundred passengers have been sexually harassed in UberThese incidents took place in California from 2017 to 2019.

The victims then reported the matter to Uber authorities. As such, Uber has its information documented. The California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) requested the information from Uber "on condition of anonymity."

But Uber has defended the authorities for providing such information without the permission of passengers, calling it a "breach of privacy"
