Shakib's call to stand against barbarism

Activists of social, cultural, and political parties, starting from educational institutions, are staging demonstrations and human chains across the country in protest of the recent incidents of rape and violence against women in different parts of the country.

Former Bangladesh national cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan wrote in a post on social media Facebook on Tuesday afternoon on behalf of the victims, "I am the son of a great woman, as my wife I have found a great woman throughout my life, I am a great woman's brother  "

Speaking about his stance against all forms of hatred and violence, the star cricketer added, "I could not remain silent after a class of barbaric people are committing heinous crimes against women and children every day, irrespective of age, religion, and caste." We must continue to fight for each other's rights, just as our freedom fighters fought to ensure our rights. Let us unite to fight this moral decay and ensure the safety of our women and children - so that they can dream and live their lives without fear. Remember, if we do not stand up today against this barbaric behavior and mentality, then one day one of our loved ones may be the victim of this cruelty. '
