16 shops burnt to ashes in Senbagh, Noakhali, 13 injured

A terrible fire broke out at Chhatarpaiya Bazar in Noakhali's Senbagh upazila. 16 shops have been burnt down. The incident took place around 2 pm on Sunday.


The victims claimed that at least Tk 5 crore was lost due to burning of valuables in the shops. At least 13 people were injured while trying to put out the fire. Upazila and thana administration visited the spot.

Deen Mohammad Rahim, a local businessman, said that after the Johar prayers, he came out of the mosque and saw a fire coming out from inside the crowded laundry in the market. At that time the shops in the market were closed. The store caught fire before anything was realized.

When he shouted, the traders and people of the area rushed to the spot and tried to control the fireBut the fire spread to several shops including Medina Pharmacy, Allardan Fruit, Abul Khair General, Al Amin Pharmacy, Amir Store, Zahir Telecom, Allah Varsa Store, Khwaja Bakery, Medina Electric, Vijay Pharmacy and Hossain Store.

Upon receiving the news, members of Chaumuhani, Chatkhil and Sonaimuri fire services reached the spot and brought the fire under control, but all the valuables and cash in the shops and shops were burnt to ashes. Several people, including businessmen, were injured while trying to put out the fire. The injured are being treated locally.
